Source Naturals - Grapefruit Pectin Powder, 3 gm, 16 oz powder Review

There are many brands of grapefruit pectin powder, but I've found Source Naturals to have the best quality products of the different companies that produce this particular product. My personal results were this: My cholesterol had been running in the 235-245 range even with exercise and diet. I tried this product for six weeks and my cholesterol reading went to 182, so this product definitely works without the side effects of statin drugs for those people with moderately high cholesterol that cannot be lowered by lifestyle changes.I don't recall the HDL/LDL distribution, so I can't tell you what it did for that.

Unfortunately, my yet undiagnosed hypothyroidism caused me to develop gastroparesis about a year after I started taking this product, so I had to discontinue its use. The problem is, the pectin powder works in part because it is undigestible fiber. In a person with gastroparesis, this means the stuff does not move through the stomach properly and just sits there emitting all kinds of painful gases back into the top of the stomach and into the esophagus. Thus, if you have gastroparesis, the use of this product will cause you a great deal of pain. However, for all others, I highly recommend it.

Also note, Source Naturals also makes a 16 ounce sized container of grapefruit pectin powder. You might want to start off with this four ounce size and see if you have any negative gastrointestinal effects. If not, the 16 ounce container is far more economical.

Unlike the previous reviewer i found this to be very chocolaty.I use it in the morning when i don't have time for breakfast and it controls my appetite until i can have fruit at my desk at work.Also, i have started using it half-strength at night.It keeps me from foraging for food after hours.It has lots of fiber so you don't want to let it sit and you do want to drink at least 1 glass of water afterwards.I think it is useful to keep your eating and your bathroom habits on a regular schedule.I thought the vanilla did not taste like vanilla; bland. Am re-ordering 2 of the double chocolate today.
